Throughout her career, Dorothy Hoolahan, a native Long Islander, has sold many paintings and won numerous awards for her watercolors.  Her love for nature’s simple beauty is evident in her timeless still life and inviting landscapes.

Her studies include seminars and classes at the Art Students League in New York City, the Museum of Fine Arts in Reno, NV and Suffolk Community College in Selden, NY.  Dorothy has studied under many fine artists including Ruth Baderian, Lou Schlemm, Nita Engle and Charles Sovek.  She is an active member and exhibitor at the Suburban Art League in Syosset, Long Island.  Her work has been exhibited at the Phoenix Fine Arts Gallery in Bellport,  the Bellport Lane Art Gallery, the Bay Gallery at the Unitarian Fellowship of Bellport, Mills Pond House in Smithtown, the Syosset Community Center,  Hofstra University, Suffolk County Community College, Deepwells Mansion and is also in many private  collections both in the United States and abroad.

As does any great passion, watercolor has presented its share of challenges  but Dorothy continues to refine the skills that define her as a professional artist.
