Carolyn is proficient in oil, watercolor, collage and woodcuts. She has studied with many well-known and published artists. Among whom are Skip Lawrence, Charles Sovek, Christian White, Betty Lou Schlemm, Janet Walsh, Pat Dews and Ross Barbera. The New York Times has favorably reviewed her oils and watercolors through the years. Not throughout national and worldwide collections.

Carolyn also designs and fabricates high end, one of a kind designer jewelry using rare and unusual semi-precious beads. Carolyn prefers beads such as Ocean Jasper, Russian chariot, Peruvian opal, carnelian, rose quartz, jade, Blue Chalcedony, Garnet, Black Onyx, Coral and Turquoise. She personally chooses the beads with an eye to the finest quality, color and Shapes. All jewelry is handcrafted using Softflex or Beadalon wire, precious metal clasps, beads, spacers and findings.

Harrington enjoys painting “au plein air” with friends and fellow plein air painters both on Long Island and wherever her travels take her. Her inspiration comes from both American and French Impressionists. Most recently she has started to work with the canvas that make her impressionist landscapes glow with vivid or subtle color, depending on the mood she is expressing.

Her work expresses the beauty and subtle nuances of the natural world. They especially capture the spirit and heart of Long Island landscapes, expressing the sense of harmony and quintessence that is to be found there. Much of the beaches that Carolyn loves to paint are beginning to erode and she wants to capture these vistas while they are still visible to us. There is also another side to her work, which is expressionistic; it is here where she loves to explore non-representational art through woodcuts, monnoprints and collage. Working with these media allows Carolyn to reach within and take risks, thereby opening new connections to the creative wellspring within all of us.
